Feliz Dia de los Muertos!

Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated in Mexico
and around the world in many cultures.
Tradition connected with the holiday include creating private altars (ofrendas)
using marigolds, sugared skulls, sweet bread, the favorite foods and beverages
of the departed
.  The dead receive a warm and festive welcome from the

living during the observance of Dia de los Muertos in Mexico.
At sundown families & friends gather sharing food & drink and
reminisce with the departed recounting stories and
events of the past year.
Scholars trace the modern day Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back
hundred of years to an Aztec festival dedicated to a goddess named Mictecacihuatl
(a deity whose role is watching over the bones of the dead)

October & Ghosts!

Crayola Ghost
Love the Louis Ghost Chair!
Twelve chairs & they still do not overwhelm the space.
The draping definitely makes it look like a Ghost!
Martha Stewart's Ghost Costume is amazing!
Happy Halloween!

I will never forget!

“The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead we have emerged stronger and more unified. We feel renewed devotion to the principles of political, economic and religious freedom, the rule of law and respect for human life. We are more determined than ever to live our lives in freedom.”
Rudolph W. Giuliani

Mayor of the City of New York

Books...

I have just finished re-reading all of Jane Austen!  I just could not stop - it was like potato chips "You can't eat just one".  Seriously, it seems that every so often I just have to immerse myself in all things Austen.  First the books - then the movies!!!

Next on my list is, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, at times hilarious always poignant.  The movie is now at the cinemas starring Emma Stone as "Skeeter" -  I just need to finish the book quickly before I'll be joining with popcorn!

What is your favorite author?  What is on your reading list?
